Financial support after loss

Unum's life benefit products may help provide financial support for families after the death of a loved one.

Protecting your family

Many employers provide a basic level of life insurance to employees and offer workers the opportunity to purchase higher levels of coverage at an affordable price. This gives you access to coverage you can keep even if you leave your employer. You can also purchase some types of life insurance coverage directly from Unum.

Most people need enough life insurance to replace their income for seven to ten years. [1]

  • Term life coverage purchased through your employer is affordable, requires no physical exam and you can take the coverage with you if you change jobs. Unum also offers useful, value-added services with group life plans.
  • Interest-sensitive whole life insurance accumulates cash value that you can borrow from or use to buy a reduced policy with no more premiums due.
  • Universal life coverage offers flexible premiums and the ability to increase or decrease the benefit as your needs change.

Knowing how much life insurance you need is a critical part of protecting your family.
